Limits are something everyone in the D/s community has. For a Dominant, we typically don’t state them since we’re the ones “in control;” however, you can learn a Dominant’s limits based on those they impose on their submissive or the requirements they mandate.

For instance, a Dominant who has a limit of needles will not do needle play with their slave. A Dominant who enjoys Fire and Knife Play will ensure their slave enjoys it as well either by training the slave or by not accepting a slave whose hard limits involve no fire or knives. Though it’s a “silent limit” it’s still there. Some Dominant women have limits against their male slave/submissive crossdressing. There can also be limits about their slave being touched by another person, restricting all physical interactions, even certain vanilla ones. Basically limits for a Dominant are self-imposed.

Why do we self-impose them?

Because Dominants are in the unique position of being able to do so. Dominants have the final say on what is and isn’t acceptable in the relationships.
